Alessandro Allievi is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of developmental neuroscience and robotics, whose work illuminates how the human brain builds its earliest maps of the body and how machines can learn from our most subtle cues. His most impactful contributions center on the preterm infant brain, where he has used advanced fMRI-compatible robotic interfaces to reveal, for the first time, how the sensorimotor cortex matures before full-term birth.
