About

Computer security, in the context of robotics and AI systems, encompasses the practices, protocols, and technologies designed to protect robotic platforms, autonomous systems, and AI-driven infrastructure from unauthorized access, cyberattacks, data breaches, and malicious manipulation. As robots become increasingly networked — communicating over 5G, IoT frameworks, and cloud platforms — they inherit the vulnerabilities of those digital ecosystems. Attackers may exploit weaknesses in sensor data pipelines, control software, or communication channels to hijack robot behavior, corrupt localization and mapping systems, or compromise human-robot interaction. Security measures include encryption, authentication, intrusion detection, and secure software architectures embedded within cyber-physical systems. This matters profoundly because compromised robots operating in industrial, healthcare, or public environments can cause physical harm, data theft, or systemic failure. As autonomous systems take on greater responsibility — from surgical assistance to autonomous vehicles — ensuring their resilience against cyber threats is essential for safe deployment and for maintaining human trust in AI-powered technologies.
