Jorma Isola is a pioneering figure in digital pathology, whose work has fundamentally transformed how histopathology is taught and practiced. His primary research areas center on virtual microscopy, breast cancer diagnostics, and the application of digital imaging to pathology. Isola’s most significant contribution is the development of a groundbreaking "digital atlas of breast histopathology," which leveraged advanced web-based virtual microscopy technology.
