Abstract

The advancement of automation technologies, including Smart Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Algorithms (STARA), is rapidly reshaping industries worldwide. However, the readiness of the workforce to adapt to these changes presents a significant challenge, particularly in developing economies such as Indonesia. This study seeks to assess the awareness of Indonesian employees regarding the impact of STARA on their careers and explore the factors influencing their preparedness for these technological shifts. A quantitative survey was conducted with 100 employees from diverse sectors in Indonesia to evaluate their understanding of STARA and its implications. The results show that, while many employees are aware of STARA, their comprehension of its direct effects on their jobs and career paths remains limited. Additionally, the study highlights the role of organizational commitment, influenced by challenge appraisal and competence, in enhancing workforce readiness for automation technologies. The findings emphasize the need for strategic initiatives, such as reskilling and upskilling programs, to better equip employees for the future job market. This research offers valuable insights into workforce preparedness for STARA in Indonesia and provides recommendations for organizations to prioritize building employee awareness and commitment, ensuring a smoother transition into an automated future.
