Abstract
This paper presents the Petri nets approach for the control and monitoring of the factory automation system (FAS). The proposed model is fuzzy Petri nets based on fuzzy logic with Petri nets and the hierarchy concept. In this paper we also focuses on FAS consisting of the discrete event system and the continuous system. The proposed system structure is composed of the supervisory controller and the local controller. When both controllers are executed the local controller transfers transition information (events) to the supervisory controller. Therefore, if the system considers the process failures, the failure detection method and diagnosis method will be based on this monitoring concept. Finally, the application of the theoretical result is illustrated for an example of FAS such as peg-in-hole process using an articulated robot hand.
