Abstract

The utilization of Automatic Mobile Manipulators (AMM) is on the rise for flexible production systems in the manufacturing industry. AMM provides a distinct advantage by surpassing the constraints of robot workspaces through enhanced mobility and efficient task execution. This research focuses on the development and validation of an AMM for flexible production processes in the manufacturing industry. The AMM combines manipulation and navigation intelligence to enable complex assembly tasks and autonomous navigation in non-standardized environments. Through virtual and real-world experiments, the AMM demonstrates robust manipulation skills, accurate object detection and tracking, and efficient task execution. The results confirm the feasibility of using AMM to enhance production processes and address unique manufacturing challenges. Future work will involve further improving AMM capabilities and addressing diverse and dynamic environments.
