Abstract
Most of the existing Internet-based telerobotics, often modeling the known environment or using picture transmission, cannot deal with our real world, and cannot give users really interactive experience. This year our research team has launched the "PolyUiBot" project that enables authorized users to control a specific robot via Internet anytime and anywhere. The on-going project extends our capability to explore the distant world. This paper presents an integrated iBot framework combining with emerging streaming media technologies. The finished preliminary experiments, involving a test of mobile robot teleoperation over 33.6kbps (modem) Internet, have shown some promising results.
