Abstract

A machine creation laboratory has been performed with creating robots which are called the autonomous robots. This paper describes specific examples of the laboratory which was held by using Lego Mindstorms, and then introduces the outcome of educative effects in engineering education. The purpose of this laboratory is not only the improvement of problem-creation and problem-solving ability but also that of the group activities, the writing reports and the presentations. For example, students experienced that they could create ideas for resolving problems by themselves, discuss the robot mechanism in a group through the laboratory. It can be seen that the use of these robots for engineering education is considerably effective.
