Abstract

The method of automating processes using software that will perform as humans do and carry out tasks on computers is referred to as robotic process automation (RPA). Usually, it is used to automate processes of relatively low to middle complexity and high repetitiveness. RPA is an emerging form of business process automation technology based on the notion of software robots or artificial intelligence (AI) workers. The RPA has abundant applications in industries including healthcare and pharmaceuticals, financial services, outsourcing, retail, telecom, energy and utilities, real estate, and fast-moving computer goods (FMCG). The way companies do their business, the way people do official work, as well as daily public life are going to be drastically changed by new hardware, software technologies, and smart devices. Automation using RPA benefits in terms of less time needed to redo work that isn't properly done, as well as minimized disruption to other team members during to the complex change in management done within the team during traditional business process automation. Also, automation of repetitive tasks will allow more time for the team to focus on more complex and less easily automated portions of process. This chapter deals with the applications of workforce management resulting from RPA and AI being applied to human resources processes. This can be collectively called intelligent automation or IA. RPA combined with AI can help both leaders and team members by leveraging human-related workflows, making it easier to follow, examine, and optimize all the different processes. This could be achieved with the help of different types of tools using RPA. In any organization, there are a lot of tasks that are repetitive and time-consuming. While doing these types of tasks, there is always a huge possibility for errors occurring because of repetition. Hence, in order to avoid these errors and save time, a lot of RPA software is available. Daily tasks that are performed with the software by employees are automated using the bot. The software that uses the bot for performing this automation is called RPA software. A robot is nothing but an infected computer with malicious software. A detailed view of these tools has been discussed, and the tools have been categorized by the types of RPA. This chapter will be a good guideline for academicians, researchers, students, and practitioners to get an idea about the usage of RPA tools for workforce management systems. The advantages and disadvantages of RPAs for workforce management systems are discussed.
