Abstract
This chapter discusses the phenomenon of artificial intelligence (AI) for the first time aimed at uninformed people who do not share the same cultural upbringing. The goal is to resolve the misconceptions of AI without further defining its concepts, uses, and effects AI while managing the profound linguistic and cultural differences that may be present. In the very beginning, it provides the rationale and basic components of AI beginning from concepts such as machine learning, deep learning, and artificial neural networks in layman's terms and simplistic analogies. Later, it provides an ever-growing range of applications of AI like natural language processing, robotics, and computer vision, exemplifying the impact of AI on the world. It also attempts to provide answers to the concerns that have been raised on the ethics of AI practices with AI being the focal concern.
