Abstract
Abstract:- While Internet-based telerobotics have attracted much interest around the world, up to now there has been little systematic research into Internet Telerobotics (IT). This article proposes an innovative method for measuring the performance of IT systems: the ARIUS Criteria. With the goal of orienting the direction of further research, ARIUS can be used to assess existing IT projects according to five criteria: sensibility, interactivity, intellectuality, robustness, and usability. In this article, we focus on using a streaming technology-based approach to improve the sensibility of our “PolyUiBot ” project. The results of preliminary experiments testing a real robot teleoperation over a 33.6 kbps (modem) Internet connection have been promising, with this approach performing better than other approaches.
