Abstract
In the paper, the first live working robot of China for power distribution systems maintenance work is described. Hybrid systems methodology of the robot was used to model the basic modes of operation of the robot, which includes local-automatic and master-slave operation possibilities. The control panel, dual-armed master-servo and dual-armed manipulators are used to accomplish the demanded task. The robot was built and tested in real operational situations and proved to be both efficient and robust. It will enable power distribution companies to replace current highly dangerous operations, which are normally performed by human operators.
