Abstract

This paper proposes a robot navigation system with the pattern recognition of figures drawn by a laser pointer. This system distinguishes the shape of motion of the laser spot and gives a robot the command corresponding to the drawn figure. We assign robot commands simple figures such as a circle, a triangle, and a square. And we applied this system to the nonholonomic mobile robot, and showed its effectiveness by steering the robot successfully. As a result, proposal system makes it possible to send commands by easy and intuitive action of drawing a figure only with a laser pointer.
