Abstract
Several miniature manipulator prototypes have been built for integration in a robotic endoscope using shape memory, hydraulic, and electromagnetic actuators. Their real work density is compared to the theoretical densities. Also the constructive aspects are discussed. It shows up that shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators are less attractive than they appear on a theoretical basis. 1.
