Abstract
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the first ACM SIGCHI/SIGART Conference on Human-Robot Interaction -- HRI'06. This year's inaugural conference is the first step toward becoming the premier interdisciplinary forum for the presentation of research results on leading edge issues of human robot interaction. The three goals of the conference are to promote the inherently interdisciplinary field of HRI, to provide a single track forum for the dissemination of excellent research in the field, and to provide high quality evaluations of mature and emerging research. HRI'06 gives researchers and practitioners a unique opportunity to share their perspectives with others interested in the various aspects of human robot interaction.
