摘要

The advancements that Artificial intelligence offers enable libraries to remain competitive and relevant in the digital age. This paper dwelt on the innumerable transforming capabilities of AI in library operations and services, highlighting the risks involved in AI system implementations and the prospects. Using a qualitative research design, this paper carried out a systematic review of the literature. The paper revealed that the application of AI e.g. Robotics is revolutionising backend library operations by automating repetitive clerical and manual tasks, enhancing efficiency and reducing human intervention in routine processes. Artificial intelligence is used to analyse user behaviour and predict trends by identifying patterns in data. Furthermore, the AI system improves library administration and customisation as well as enables intelligent information systems that streamline tasks such as data acquisition and resource management. The paper further revealed that the use of AI in some aspects raises ethical concerns, particularly in areas like learning analytics, where issues of privacy and consent have been identified. The paper concluded that AI has equipped libraries with tools to enhance their core processes and useroriented services while providing vast opportunities for research and data science capabilities but they must be wary of ethical concerns when implementing AI systems. The paper recommends that libraries build capacities, Address ethical concerns and foster research and collaboration to enjoy the full benefits of AI, especially for developing countries.
