摘要

The integration of augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies into industrial robotics is becoming increasingly prevalent, offering significant opportunities to enhance efficiency and sustainability in manufacturing processes. This paper presents the development of a middleware solution designed to facilitate the seamless integration of contemporary ARlMR devices with industrial robotic systems, including those that have been operational for several decades. The proposed middleware acts as an intermediary, ensuring secure and efficient communication between the ARlMR devices and industrial robots without requiring major modifications to existing infrastructures. By utilizing industry-standard communication protocols and lightweight, responsive software components, the system enhances the capabilities of older robotic systems, enabling their continued use in modern industrial environments. The solution provides a flexible, scalable interface that supports the visualization and manipulation of robotic data in real-time through ARlMR devices, thereby extending the functional lifespan of industrial robots and contributing to sustainable industrial practices. This approach has the potential to facilitate the simultaneous achieve-ment of sustainability and efficiency. Furthermore, the display of augmented reality information will be possible for devices and industrial robots that lack the intrinsic capacity to utilise this technology.
