Vida artificial: El cíborg, representación posmoderna de nuestras ansiedades

espanolEn el contexto de la posmodernidad, el ciborg emerge como una nueva imagen del automata moderno. Dentro de este estudio, atenderemos a este nuevo ser que, a diferencia del robot, muestra una apariencia humanoide y es emocionalmente autonomo. Atendiendo a esto ultimo, el ciborg representa una mayor ansiedad ya que difumina la frontera entre humano y maquina. A traves de ejemplos especificos de ciborgs en la literatura y el cine, vamos a tratar de delimitar dicha frontera y analizar las preocupaciones provocadas por la transgresion de este limite. El ciborg es una nueva figuracion de la imaginada consecuencia de la relacion de interdependencia entre el ser humano y la maquina. Se teme no solo la perdida de control de la tecnologia, sino tambien la perdida de la humanidad English«A«Artificial Life: The Cyborg, postmodern representation of our anxieties». Within the context of postmodernity, the cyborg emerges as a new image of the modern automaton. Within this study, we will deal with this new being that, unlike the robot, has a human appearance and is emotionally autonomous. Taking into consideration this last feature, the cyborg represents an increased anxiety, since it blurs the borderline between human and machine. Throughout specific examples of cyborgs in literature and film, we will try to delimit this borderline and analyse the anxieties caused by the transgression of this limit. The cyborg is a new figuration of the imagined consequence of the interdependent relationship between man and machine. We fear not only the loss of control of technology, but also the loss of humanity.
