Automated apparatus for live work on overhead transmission lines

摘要

An automatic device for live working on overhead power transmission lines is under development in the Ukraine. The automated plug-in unit for insulator replacement (APUIR) employs robotized plug-in sub-assemblies to replace defective insulators and perform other tasks. The APUIR, which is mounted on an insulated lifting arm and is operated by a computer or an operator at ground level, is placed on an insulator string to release the tension of the string and to remove and install insulator units. The arm's hydraulic system powers some plug-ins and drives an alternator, which powers video cameras and other electrical devices of the automatic unit for insulator replacement (AUIR) that forms the main working component of the APUIR.
