Characterizing and Processing Robot-Directed Speech

Humanoid robots are more suited to being generalists rather than specialists. Hence when designing a speech interface, we need to retain that generality. But speech recognition is most successful in strongly circumscribed domains. We examine whether some useful properties of infant directed speech can be evoked by a robot, and how the robot's vocabulary can be adapted.
