About

Dr. Yanyan Xie is a pioneering breast surgeon whose work is redefining the landscape of oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery. Her primary research focus is the advancement of minimally invasive techniques for breast cancer management, specifically through the development and refinement of endoscopic and robotic-assisted nipple-sparing mastectomy (E-NSM/R-NSM) with immediate implant-based reconstruction. Dr. Xie’s major contribution lies in subverting the limitations of traditional minimally invasive surgery. She has pioneered novel approaches, including the "reverse-sequence" endoscopic technique, which dramatically reduces operation time, making bilateral procedures feasible and accessible. Her work also addresses previously contraindicated cases, such as patients with large or severely ptotic breasts, expanding the pool of candidates who can benefit from scarless surgery. With her most cited paper accumulating 32 citations, Dr. Xie’s research is gaining significant traction. Her innovative "air inflation adjustment technique" and focus on improving both clinical outcomes and aesthetic results demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care. By solving the high-cost and long-operation-time barriers of robotic surgery, Dr. Xie is democratizing access to state-of-the-art, minimally invasive breast reconstruction.
