About

Salvador Morales-Conde is a leading figure in abdominal wall surgery, whose work has fundamentally shaped modern hernia repair. His primary research areas include laparoscopic and robotic hernia surgery, single-incision techniques, and the development of evidence-based surgical guidelines. He is best known for co-authoring the landmark International Endohernia Society (IEHS) guidelines for laparoscopic ventral hernia repair, which have been cited over 500 times collectively and serve as the global standard for surgical practice. Morales-Conde has also made critical contributions to understanding trocar-site hernias, demonstrating through a meta-analysis that single-incision laparoscopic surgery carries a higher risk than conventional laparoscopy. A pioneer in robotic surgery, he led the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (EAES) consensus statement on robotics and directs the Robotic4all training program, which has been shown to significantly improve surgical performance.
