About
Dr. Olivier Blasi is a pioneering radiation oncologist whose work centers on the application of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for the treatment of primary renal cell carcinoma. His major contribution lies in demonstrating that nephron-sparing robotic radiosurgery is a safe and effective non-invasive alternative to surgery for stage I kidney cancer, particularly for patients who are poor surgical candidates or who refuse invasive procedures. His landmark 2019 study, which has garnered 14 citations, prospectively evaluated 21 patients with solitary renal tumors, including 14 surgical candidates, and established key toxicity and efficacy benchmarks for this emerging approach. This work has helped shift the paradigm in renal oncology, offering a compelling option for organ preservation without the risks of traditional surgery. Dr. Blasi’s research is notable for its rigorous prospective design and its focus on patient-centered outcomes, positioning him as a leading voice in the expanding field of extracranial radiosurgery and the non-surgical management of solid tumors.
