About
Dr. Karim Touijer is a leading urologic surgeon and researcher whose work has profoundly shaped the prevention of thromboembolic complications and the advancement of robotic surgery. He is best known for his pivotal role in establishing evidence-based guidelines for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prophylaxis in urology, as demonstrated by his authorship of the highly cited AUA Best Practice Statement (160 citations) and a landmark multi-institutional study on symptomatic DVT and pulmonary embolism after robotic prostatectomy (146 citations). These contributions have set the standard for perioperative patient safety. More recently, Dr. Touijer has been at the forefront of evaluating next-generation robotic platforms.
