Adam Steltzner is a visionary aerospace engineer whose name is synonymous with the audacious art of landing rovers on Mars. His primary research focus is the complex physics and engineering of entry, descent, and landing (EDL) systems—the critical "seven minutes of terror" that separate a successful mission from a debris field. Steltzner's most profound contribution was his leadership in architecting the revolutionary "sky crane" maneuver for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission, which successfully delivered the Curiosity rover in 2012.
