ANYmal Research
ANYboticsANYmal is a quadruped inspection robot developed by ANYbotics (ETH Zürich spinoff, founded 2016, Zürich, Switzerland) designed for autonomous industrial inspection across sectors including oil & gas, mining, power utilities, chemicals, and railways. The system performs fully autonomous inspection missions — navigating stairs, slopes, and complex terrain, collecting thermal, visual, acoustic, and gas-detection data — without a human performing the inspection task itself. Multiple independent deployments (Vigier Ciment cement plant, Equinor Northern Lights CCS, EWZ substation) corroborate vendor autonomy claims with concrete operational metrics. The platform has raised over $150 million in funding and offers three operating modes (Teleoperated, Supervised, Autonomous), with the autonomous mode being the primary commercial use case. ANYmal X, an Ex-certified variant for explosive atmospheres, is planned for market in 2026.
