About
Nour Abdelmoneim is a planetary scientist whose work focuses on the thermal environment and surface dynamics of Mars, with a particular emphasis on diurnal temperature variations. Her major contribution lies in leveraging data from the Emirates Mars Infrared Spectrometer (EMIRS) aboard the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) “Hope” to provide, for the first time, comprehensive surface temperature measurements of Mars across all local times and much of the planet. This breakthrough enables direct comparisons with in-situ data from NASA’s Curiosity and Perseverance rovers, offering unprecedented insights into Martian surface properties and atmospheric interactions. Her most cited paper, published in 2022, has garnered 18 citations, underscoring its significance in advancing Martian climatology. By bridging orbital and ground-based observations, Abdelmoneim’s work not only refines our understanding of Mars’ thermal behavior but also demonstrates the value of international collaboration in planetary exploration. Her research is a vital resource for students and researchers studying planetary surfaces, thermal inertia, and the diurnal cycles that shape Mars’ environment.
