Abstract
The neonatal period is a time when many systems of newborns are immature and vulnerable to external dangers. Newborns may be admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit due to different health problems they experience during this period. Newborns in these units need a multidisciplinary team approach and the use of advanced technological applications. With the development of technology in recent years, the use of artificial intelligence-based applications has increased in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. These applications include imaging and diagnostic systems, clinical decision support systems, robotic and automation applications, follow-up and monitoring of infants, ventilator management and respiratory support systems, infection and sepsis monitoring. Effective diagnosis, treatment and care services are carried out by healthcare professionals with artificial intelligence-based applications. Artificial intelligence-based applications used in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit increase the life chances of newborns and positively affect long-term health and development outcomes.
