Abstract
A brief review of technologies for image-guided surgery is offered, including tracking/navigation, intraoperative imaging, image registration, visualization, and surgical robotics across a spectrum of surgical applications. Opportunities for medical physicists to expand expertise and contribute more deeply within the circle of care in surgery are outlined, including improved safety, system integration/interoperability, and rigorous quality assurance.
