Abstract

Industry 4.0 has transformed supply chains worldwide by integrating advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things, Blockchain, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence. These make for intelligent, adaptive supply chains marked by real-time data exchange, predictive analytics, and automation that enhance transparency, efficiency, and stakeholder collaboration. IoT enables real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, while Blockchain ensures traceability and trust through secure transactions. Big Data enables demand predictions and logistic planning at very high levels of accuracy. AI is also used optimally in resource allocation, decision-making, etc. Despite this revolutionary potential for transformation, the adoption of Industry 4.0 faces many challenges relating to high implementation, data privacy, and the not-very-able readiness of the workforce. The paradigm tilt towards Industry 5.0 draws upon human-centric, sustainable supply chains under which ethical AI, collaborative robotics, and green practice come into center stage.
