Abstract

Since its first edition in 1989, Kanski's Clinical Ophthalmology has been a trusted resource for both trainees and practicing clinicians around the world. This most recent 10th edition, released in 2024, will be no exception. The first chapter of this book reviews various examination techniques used for the assessment and evaluation of the patient. The subsequent chapters are organized systematically, progressing from the anterior to the posterior portions of the eye. Each chapter provides detailed but concise information on clinical features, imaging, relevant laboratory testing, and the treatment and management of each condition. The content has been updated since the previous 2020 edition to include descriptions of monkeypox infection and COVID conjunctivitis, which have emerged in recent years. It also includes the latest medications for treating various diseases. This book is up-to-date and relevant for the clinical practitioner of “today.” Aside from the thorough and well-organized content, one of the book's best features is the inclusion of high-quality pictures and images. There is a multitude (and by a multitude, I mean there are more than 2000!) of anterior segment and posterior segment images, which help to reinforce the descriptions of conditions and concepts. Advanced imaging technologies are shown, such as OCT, OCT-A, fundus autofluorescence, and fluorescein angiography. Additionally, histology images, anatomical illustrations, and surgical technique photographs ensure that the reader has a complete understanding of each condition discussed.Access to the e-book version is included; it is available on a computer or through the Elsevier e-book app on a tablet or smartphone. You can search, highlight, take notes, add bookmarks, and make flashcards. You can also change the text size, font, and line separation to your liking. The 10th edition of Kanski's Clinical Ophthalmology is an excellent comprehensive resource for optometrists, ophthalmologists, trainees, new clinicians, and experienced practitioners alike, casting a wide net of utility.
