Abstract
JAXA is currently developing the Martian Moons eXploration (MMX), a sample return mission from Phobos for launch in 2024. The sample acquisition method involves landing on the surface of Phobos, confirming the terrain situation at the landing site, approaching the sample acquisition point using manipulators, and ejecting a cylindrical corer to collect sample. In particular, it is important to understand the behavior characteristics of the manipulator and corer to find a sampling method that is advantageous for sample collection, and to confirm that there are no large fluctuations in the attitude of the spacecraft to ensure its safety in actual operation. This paper describes outline of the sampling method, the analytical model used for the initial study, and the results of the analysis.
