Abstract

This paper presents a new approach in the area of rehabilitation robotics. The service robot MATS helps disabled and elderly people in their day life activities in common living environment like kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc. For this reason, the quality of life of an important part of the population improves towards their social integration. The designed robot has new abilities such as climbing from one wall to another or from the table to the wheelchair. Also the robot moves while it is attached to the wheelchair. The robot needs only power supply to be operated (2 wires for the whole robot) and it autonomously performs several home tasks. This paper presents the concept design and the main mechanical features of the robotic system.
