Abstract
A laboratory robot is programmed to conduct concurrently two separate liquid chromatographic (LC) analyses of starch hydrolyzates to determine carbohydrate composition and trace 5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-furaldehyde in corn syrups. For flexibility, some samples are analyzed using one sample preparation step for both analyses, and other samples can be prepared using separate, or a combination of the two, sample preparation techniques. In addition, samples are processed for either one of the analyses or both in combination.
