Abstract
Pedestrian detection is an active and challenging research topic in the field of computer vision. It has a lot of important applications in intelligent transportation,robot development,video surveillance and so on. Many different pedestrian detection methods are proposed. The typical pedestrian methods are classified into three categories according to the image features used. Merits and demerits of each class are discussed in detail. At the same time,the characteristics of some commonly used pedestrian datasets are introduced. Some problems with this research topic are analyzed. Finally the trend of this work is given.
