Abstract
In this review paper, we propose that the rate of research activity in Human Robot Interaction (HRI) must step up its pace in the coming few years, in terms of progress in both fundamental discovery and Technology Readiness Level (TRL) if we are to meet the challenges laid down by a number of powerful emerging application domains. We propose that these domains are set to dominate this crucial sector of robotics development over the next few decades.
