Abstract
Many industrial processes consist of motor-driven equipment and robotics operated in discrete power consuming steps or loads. The optimal sequencing of these loads makes it possible to reduce the superposition or additive load that occurs when various loads have the potential of being on at the same time. Savings in power demand costs may be realized as well as an optimization of plant production and operation. The Fourier series representation of load profiles provides a compact, flexible means of storing this information.
