Abstract
A. Overview of AI's role in national securityArtificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in the realm of national security. The use of AI technologies, such as machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, has become integral to various aspects of a nation's security apparatus. AI's role in national security extends to areas like intelligence gathering, threat analysis, decision-making support, and operational effectiveness. It has the potential to enhance military capabilities, improve cybersecurity, and revolutionize the way governments safeguard their interests.B. Significance of autonomous weapons and cybersecurity in the geopolitical contextAutonomous weapons and cybersecurity have risen to the forefront of discussions surrounding AI and national security, and their implications on the geopolitical stage are profound. Autonomous weapons, including drones and military robots, can operate without direct human control, raising ethical, legal, and strategic concerns. Their deployment has the potential to change the dynamics of armed conflict, affecting how states engage in warfare and altering the balance of power among nations.Cybersecurity, on the other hand, is a critical component of national security as the digital landscape becomes a battlefield of its own. AI-driven cyberattacks and defenses have the potential to disrupt critical infrastructure, steal sensitive data, and manipulate public perception. The interplay of AI in cybersecurity can lead to both offensive and defensive strategies, with states vying to protect their digital assets and exploit vulnerabilities in adversaries' networks. This paper will explore the geopolitical implications of these two key aspects of AI in national security, focusing on how they impact international relations, strategic doctrines, arms control agreements, and the overall stability of the global security landscape. By examining the significance of autonomous weapons and cybersecurity in the context of AI and national security, we can better understand the evolving dynamics of geopolitics in the 21st century.
