Abstract
Representations of the dead as social robots are on the rise. Communication and interaction with such representations constitute a specific segment within computational commemoration, i.e. memory that is based on digital methods. Case studies provide thought-provoking insights. Novel business models emerge in this area. Imagined dialogues with the dead via media result in social and personal challenges, which need to be addressed in order to arrive at responsible applications of innovative technologies.
