Abstract

Human-robot interaction is an important, attractive and challenging area. In this research an android based robot was designed and implemented that has the characteristics of functioning on voice commands; riding through rough and rugged tracks; sensing temperature, humidity, gas and smoke; detecting obstacles; picking objects and performing surveillance. The developed robotic system was also equipped with a built-in radar system that can give out an approximate vision of its surroundings. Wireless communication system has been used to communicate with the robot for sending commands to and receiving required information and data from the robot. In absence of wireless communication, it can also run in autonomous mode. To make the module be able to traverse through rough grounds caterpillar track was included.
