Abstract

The rise of intelligent agents has triggered an avalanche of innovation in smart logistics and warehouse automation, changing the way supply chain operations are managed forever. This review focuses on the basic principles of AI and intelligent agents applied to logistics and also describes some real-world applications. It contemplates its defining characteristics, including autonomous, adaptive, and collaborative, in line with technologies such as automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots(AMRs), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and the Internet of Things (IoT). The study has also identified that multi-agent systems have a very relevant role in streamlining and optimizing the most complex processes in logistics, apart from the operational and strategic benefits accruable from better efficiency, cost reduction, and improved decision-making. In Conclusion, The extant literature highlights how intelligent agents may influence the realms of operational efficiency and decision-making within logistics. Nevertheless, further commitment is still needed toward understanding the practical feasibility of the agents and implications concerning workforce dynamics and operational practices. The contribution will be an overview of the current scenario and future possibilities for intelligent agents in reshaping smart logistics and warehouse automation.
