Abstract

This paper analyzes human-robot interaction in a home tour scenario with respect to the tasks that the users had to solve in a study. The analysis shows that the users’ behavior regarding body orientation and gaze depends on the task which in the present scenario can be social, functional, or problemrelated. The paper argues that knowledge about these variations should be taken into account when designing robots in order to improve their capability for situation awareness and, thus, to improve the interaction. 1
