Abstract

In this paper, we describe the fault detection and identification system for sensors and actuators in vibration control system of flexible structures. Various investigations have been carried out on the fault detection and identification. But, conventional fault detection and identification systems, using sensor output signals, cannot function in the case that sensors and actuators are serially connected in the system such as control systems. So, this paper presents one of the fault detection and identification system, which can be applied to the case that actuators and sensors are failed at a time. In the presented method system identification is used applying evolutionary strategy (ES) with the knowledge of fault rate for sensors and actuators, as well as sensor output signals. A simulation study with flexible robotic arm shows that the presented method has the possibility to function for the fault identification of sensors and actuators.
