Abstract

Today’s PLC systems are used all over the world in various automation applications, from automation of individual processes to simple machine functions or control of the entire production line. The article deals with the design of controlling a Kinetix 5100 servo drive using Allen Bradley’s Micro850 PLC microcontroller. The overall program design of the technical equipment control solution associated with the configuration of the servomotor movement control using output pulses from the Micro850 PLC was implemented in the Connected Components Workbench (CCW) software. The proposed solution was subsequently tested in the school’s laboratory as an application of a controlled servomotor to the manipulation process of a small educational robot extended by machine vision tools for object detection and recognition for pick and place applications.
