Abstract
In this paper, the prominent factors, which yield better weld bead geometry of the robotic GMAW joints, were optimized. Taguchi parametric design and optimization approach has been applied to determine the optimized level of input parameter composition. Arc current, stick out, arc voltage and travel speed are taken as input parameters to determine the bead width. The statistical technique ANOVA has been used to check its significance. The results show that the input parameters have significant effect on deciding the weld bead width. The results were confirmed by further experiments
