Abstract

In this thesis we study the automated electroplating lines. In these lines, the products are immerged in different tanks. Each tank contains baths, which affect the mechanical or electrical properties of the products. The parts are transferred from a tank to another one by a hoist. The processing times are bounded. The lower bound represents the minimum time to treat the product while the upper bound depends on the treatment.<br />A classical objective is to find the robot moves which maximize the throughput rate, this is called ”hoist scheduling problem” (HSP). In this thesis, we study the cyclic case. We proposed for a two-tanks line a method to obtain the optimal cycles. We proved, for a balanced three-tanks line and a single-part production, the caracteristics of the optimal cycles and a way to find them. Then we proposed the optimal cycles for the no-wait case in a four-tanks line. Finally we gave, for a balanced m-tanks line and a single part production, a conjecture which gives the structure of the optimal production cycles and proved it for several cases.
