Abstract
A mobile autonomous robot is being developed that navigates and fulfils transportation tasks in dynamically changing industrial environments. Among others, an obligatory ingredient is a wireless communication link with other robots and control centers: a mobile robot needs communicate to exchange information and receive commands in order to accomplish a given task. The European standard for digital cordless telecommunication DECT is considered as a means for data communication among autonomous agents in an industrial environment. A critique of DECT's current automatic repeat request schemes is presented and a simpler way of doing ARQ with DECT in conformance with ETSI's standard is proposed.
