Abstract

This paper will introduce the need for a robot to work in special environments and gives one possible solution with mobile robotics. In addition, it will present the research objectives, general and specific technical requirements, and design and development of a mobile robot to work in special environments (with explosive/dangerous gases to humans). This research attempts to use principles of user-centred design to guide the design of a special mobile robot. Designing a mobile robotic system must address the needs of its potential users, potential beneficiaries. The resulting (mechanical, electrical and control) hardware architecture of the experimental model of a mobile robot to work in special environments is presented.
