Abstract

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is one of the currently promising technologies. Many traditional factories have gradually transformed into smart factories. A large number of handling robots and robotic arms will replace labor in the future. Factory equipment can communicate with each other through wireless communication or wired communication to achieve automated production. In order to save bandwidth resource and achieve low-latency and high-reliability network transmission, Header Compression (HC) is very important for data transmission. Excessive HC is easy to cause decompression errors and too little HC will cause a lot of transmission cost. Since the application scenario of IIoT is the coexistence of mobile communication and wired communication, in order to improve the reliability and performance of the IIoT communication system, this study addresses the progress of the recent development of 3GPP standards and proposes a promising framework for Ethernet header compression (EHC).
