Abstract

Abstract Remote observations between Paris Observatory and Mauna Kea (Hawaii) have been started two years ago. Nowadays ten runs have been already conducted from the remote observing center located in Meudon. The main topics of our investigations were devoted to physical studies of minor planets (Binzel et al. 2004, Birlan et al. 2004) and to spectral investigations of planetary atmospheres. Our experience attained its maturity and the acquired feed‐backs allow us to discern between the advantages and difficulties of this observing technique. The main purpose of this paper is to share the remote observing experience and to valorize it in the frame of robotic telescope concept. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
